THE TELANGANA FREEDOM FIGHTERS- 17 CASAUALITIES UP TO NOW

Hyderabad: Telangana remained on the boil and the 48-hour bandh called by TRS demanding statehood saw five more suicides, forcing the Centre to review its options.
The suicides on Monday took the death toll to 17. Seven others tried to end their lives while activists resorted to arson, destruction of public and private properties and demolition of cell phone towers. Train passengers were the worst hit as TRS activists stopped trains for over six hours at some stations.
The Telangana activists appeared to be in no mood to relent, with the spate of suicides only adding to the pressure on TRS and others to fight till the bitter end. After taking part in a TRS rally, G , 45, hung himself to death at his home in Ande village in Mirdoddi mandal of Medak in the afternoon. He left a suicide note demanding separate Telangana. Another activist Narsing Nayak, 35, hung himself from a tree at Mamidipalli in Sangareddy mandal.
In Nalgonda district alone, three ‘T’ sympathisers committed suicide. TRS activist Satish haung himself at Veeravelli village in Bhongir mandal. “Prior to taking the extreme step, Satish took part in a rally and shouted Jai Telangana slogans,” the grieving parents said. Lingaiah of Nemmikallu in S Atmakuru mandal consumed pesticide at his home. He died later in a hospital. Mallesh of Palaram village in Nadigudem mandal consumed pesticide to end his life. “He died shouting Jai Telangana slogans. We have shifted the body for an autopsy,” a police official said.
A tribal girl, Janabai, 18, poured kerosene and torched herself during a TRS rally at Gauraram village in Gandhari mandal in Nizamabad in the afternoon. She suffered 80 per cent burns as doctors at the Banswada hospital said her survival chances were remote. A TRS activist Raju is battling for his life after he held a high tension electricity wire at Turkapadgam village in Kandi mandal of Medak. “Even as he experienced a powerful shock, Raju kept shouting Jai Telangana,” a relative said. In Karimnagar district four ‘T’ sympathisers attempted suicide.
In Adilabad district TRS activists vandalised the office of Sirpur paper mills at Kagaznagar by smashing the windowpanes and damaging furniture. At Thogutta in Medak, the activists went berserk and damaged the house of Dubbaka MLA Muthyam Reddy. Furniture was burnt, glass windows were broken and other household articles were strewn all over. The activists were lathicharged by the police.

WOMEN LIB INDIA TEAM iDIVA ON THE MOVE

I copied this extract from Indian Times to try to sensitize people in the West about the frustating and ambigious situation a lot or almost all of Indian women are living in.

Small victory, big loss!

First we bore the brunt of a beating and then there were threats. Threats to marry us off on V-Day or post our pictures online for all the world to see if found on a date.
Humiliating us into following a misguided version of Indian culture was the motive behind the actions of these self-appointed custodians - the imposing moral police.
That this politically-motivated campaign would lead to the death of a 16-year-old school girl is something that should make even those unaffected sit up and take notice.

Moral police cause suicide
Disgraced in public, the 16-year-old hung herself from the ceiling fan and committed suicide in her house in Mangalore on Wednesday. She could have never known that she'd pay such a hefty price for meeting a friend of the opposite sex on that ill-fated day.
A group of men allegedly "caught" her with the friend and handed them over to police. The police have been quick to deny the involvement of Sri Rama Sene in the humiliation of the couple. That too after, the outfit was responsible for beating up the girls at a Mangalore pub last month and had also reportedly assaulted the daughter of a Kerala MLA for talking to her Muslim friend on bus.
The police and govt are no help

Even the state police machinery and the government haven't really behaved in the most responsible manner in this case. Mangalore City Corporation mayor and five others served a legal notice on union minister for women and child development Renuka Chowdhury demanding an apology for her statement that "Mangalore has been Talibanised". Her mistake - she chose to speak out and stand up for the rights of women.

Feedback to iDiva

iDiva too has been at the receiving end of flak from so called "culture keepers" (read: men!) Nevertheless, there have been those too (men included) who have left us comments like:

"Moral policing threatening to curtail personal freedom allowed by law is to be taken seriously and he (Muthalik) should be prosecuted according to law. He is an antisocial element."

"Why are women the only ones who have to uphold this moral fabric in our society? Why are men allowed to pee on the streets on Mumbai, in full public view, or walk shirtless, or beat up women, or get drunk in "taadi bars" - when is that acceptable? Indian culture, like any other organism has to evolve!"

"Great letter, way to go Team iDiva !! I feel sorry to see that there are still so many 'protector of culture' who start claiming how wine ruins life of girls/woman and many other 'facts?'. I know only one thing that I am a hindu girl and even though I don't drink or go to pub, I felt very strongly about the attack by those animals. If anything in this world proves that attacking unarmed woman for the sake of some idiot's opinion is our hindu culture, I refuse to follow such culture."

We thank you for your support. And would like to say to all those who said that all this rhetoric wouldn't change a thing - we agree! We cannot bring back the 16-yr-old who lost her life. We'll never hear her side of the story. But we can definitely tell it on her behalf and attempt to make those detractors see that public opinion can initiate change. Why else would Mutalik have called off the disruptions planned by his outfit on V-Day?

INDIAN ROMANCE VII, it continues

A 26-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by jumping to death from the eighth floor of an office building in south Delhi on Friday, police said.

The yet-to-be-identified victim fell to death at around 3.55 pm from the office of Emmanuel Hospital Association, a non-government organisation (NGO), at Dipali Towers in Nehru Place.

She was rushed to the nearby All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where doctors declared her brought dead. Police have recovered a suicide note from her.

According to the police, her suicide note read: "I am committing suicide with my own wish and no one should be held responsible".

"We are still ascertaining her identity and further investigations are on," a police official said.

Earlier this month, a 26-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping from the eighth floor of a business centre in Janakpuri in west Delhi.

India is very proud to have one of the lowest suicide rates of the world and does'nt mind that suicide under young women me be the highest too

Indian Romance 1

The suicide note of a married woman (Manisha) from Delhi (middle class) black-mailed by her husband (Sumit) and his family members for money for a flat.
Later the father of Manisha stated: “ I had arranged the money but they killed my daughter. She would often call us or write to us saying how Sumit beat her up.

HER LAST WORDS

To Sumit
Hardly 12 days to go before our third marriage anniversary. However, I know it would give you immense pleasure if we part company before that, shall I say, if I walk out of your live. I know Sumit that you neiter love me nor like me. You only tolerate me. What we have is one-sided love. Such affairs are seldom succesfull. I loved you from my heart but you probably tought my feelings were not genuine, I can’t blame you for this; maybe sometimes lacking in my love for you. I couldn’t find a place in your heart.
You loved me initially. Or, at least , it seemed to me. Those were the best days of my live. You can live without me , but I can’t. Everybody has to die. Some die soon some very late. My days are over. I am happy that I am dying as a married woman and not as someone who was dumped by her husband. My only request to you is that to dress me up like a newly married bride for cremation. Rest assured that neither you nor any of your family members will be blamed for my death. I am also writing to my father to ensure this. I want to end this by saying that nobody loved you as much as I did.

To Police
My husband or his family members are not responsible for my death. Nobody has forced me to take this decision. Please don’t put the blame on anybody.

To Father
I’ ll be gone the time you receive this letter. You know that I can’t live without Sumit. The problem is that Sumit doesn’t want to live with me . Please don’t regret anything . Only God decides how long can a person live. Please don’t worry and also take care of my mother. Had there been a divorce, I would have died several times in your presence. I am helpless I can’t live without him. You have catered to all my whims and fancies. I hope you will also fulfill my last wish. Please assure that Sumit doesn’t suffer from my death. My soul will not rest in peace if something happens to him. Nobody is responsible for my death. It is all destiny.

No comment from my side, this cannot be commented. May Manisha be in peace but her love message and her sacrifice unforgotten.
Just for your information: divorce rate in India is one of the lowest of the world and Indians are proud of that. Dowry is strictly illegal but usus.
