This picture came in the major Indian newspapers and was thought as a propaganda for the congress party declaring Social Security Act Promise Fullfilled Social Security for Workers Ensured, showing a woman on a builders site showing as is in normal life a complete lack of any security measures. If even in such kind of propaganda publication the woman is left there without any protection not even gloves you can imagine how it is in real live.
This video taken from my balcony shows how construction work is done in India for small houses and villas. Nobody is wearing any gloves, security shoes or helmets. The women even wear sari to climb the ladder with a bag of 20 Kg of cement on the head.
In the mean time other women are preparing dinner under the most primitive and unhygienic conditions.
Cement road construction by hand. In this procedure only a beton mixer is used. The macadam is produced by breaking big stones into small pieces, later than covered with cement. The flatting is done by hand, the result is a road not suitable fo cars driving over 100 km/h. A contribution to lower the severness of the accidents.
