INDIAN SIDEWALKS
If compared to rather boring Western sidewalks the Indian have multicultural and intensive economical use.
This can start with a small grocery shop selling cigarrettes and paan to an elaborated bicycle repair shop having at least a bicycle pump and the flat spanners for removal of a wheel.
Very popular is also the shoe shine and shoe repair in the middle of the sidewalk.
Fruit and flower shops are very common and in Pune I could also admire a fish selling place in the middle of the trottoir.
The most spectacular is without any doubt the love for trees of Indians in the middle of the sidewalk always looking for shadow, resulting in real biotopes covering the complete trottoir. Of course taking all these genius applications into account human being has littarly make a step back and walk on the street.

ZOOLOGICAL SIDEWALK
This is an example of a typical zoological oriented side walk .... but never be afraid this camel is very tourist-minded and will go a step back as soon as he will see that you have serious intentions to use the sidewalk (Indian would never do)

Free Power
Sidewalk with free power supply. This is a typical example for the generosity of the governmental power supply companies. Even having a lack of power for over 500 MW, resulting in several power-cuts per day they openly share it at the side walk and everybody is invited to remove the isolation and connect his tools and lightning devices. bOf course you should were rubber shoes and not wet sandals during this job. For my US visitorsplease take care this is 220 V and not as at home 115 V (where only the finger get burned a little)

CHICKEN WALK
The poultry sidewalk is very interesting and gives the spectator the opportunity to study the the different species of chicken. In bird flue time it is recommended not to walk in the blood or excrements.
