THE FISHERMAN OF PURNANKUPPAM

An easy way to reach the beach is to take a small ferry boat close to NH45A from Pondicherry and if your are lucky you will see a sea eagle (Brahminy Kite) and if you are even more lucky , you will be able to take a picture of it. (well I wasn't so lucky)
Most Indians dislike walking and just go to the seashore and look at the few man, who like swimming. If women go to the water they will keep sari, but it is very rarely that a woman even touches water with the feet. Most young man are there to go together to huts and drink beer all afternoon. After these huts the beach is empty ....beside of coarse the fisherman doing their job

The yougster there are very friendly and quite fluent in English and they love to be take on a picture , even if they will never see their conterfate later.

The prey of the see are very small anchovis lile fish.

The fish are dried and colleted by women and put in big jute sacks, no idea where they may end, maybe in the estomac of a spoiled European cat, after the bones were removed of course.
