WILD WEST IN THE EAST II

It’s always been a peaceful town
Ghatge (48), a Dalit farmer and a father of three, retired from the Railways a few years ago and moved home from Mumbai to farm on his family’s 5-acre plot on the country-side, was murdered last week by upper-caste villagers who did not want him to dig a well on his own property.It would have been the first well in Kulakjai village on land owned by a Dalit.
Ghatge tried to reason, saying he had acquired permission from the zilla parishad and panchayat samiti and had promised to share the water in times of scarcity, but the crowd grew menacing. The field where Ghatge was digging his well is about 5 km away from the ‘Harijan basti (settlement)’ where the village’s lower castes live.
He was attacked by higher caste villagers armed with axes and iron rods and left to bleed to death. As word of Ghatge being hacked to death spread, his son Tushar told his mother and two younger sisters to bolt the doors and windows and dashed to the field.
He was find lying in a pool of blood. Tushar carried his father to the nearest hospital 2 km away. He died on the way.

Back at the Harijan basti on Saturday, Ghatge’s neighbours gathered at his house to pay homage. They put up photographs of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, champion of the Dalit cause, and Gautam Buddha — most basti residents have converted from Hinduism in a bid to escape the stain of their caste.Ten people have been arrested and charged under the Atrocities Act and special police teams deployed. “They said his well would mean less water for the common well in the village”

INDIAN ROMANCE IV

Another suicide case in New Delhi a 48-year-old housewife committed suicide by jumping off the eighth floor of a multi-storeyed apartment. The victim, Surinder Walia, has left behind a ''suicide note'' which reportedly mentions that she was depressed after her daughter's in-laws started demanding dowry and harassing her daughter immediately after the marriage. Walia's family said that their daughter Amrita got married to Gaurav Manchanda on April 28 this year. The suicide note stated that she was not happy with the way her daughter's life had turned out to be after marriage and that the in-laws were continuously taunting Amrita and were not satisfied with the gifts exchanged during the wedding. In the note, she asked her husband to take care of Amrita and their younger son, who is studying in class XII. She also requested her husband not to send the daughter back to her in-laws as ''they might make her life more miserable''. If the children so wanted, Walia should arrange for sending both the children abroad. Walia added, ''Surinder was a very strong woman and I can't believe that she took such a drastic step.

As I mentioned earlier : The divorce rate in India is one of the lowest of the world and Indian are proud about that. I assume the suicide rate of woman must be the worldwide highest too.

What is rape ?

On the basis of testimonies and witnesses, a trial court has let off a man charged with rape of his colleague 10 years ago by claiming he was a bachelor when he had actually been married earlier. The court acquitted the accused after coming to the conclusion that the woman was well aware of the acused man's martial status and still consented to the relationship.

What do we learn about that (for tourist)
1) Never promise marriage before sexual intercourse with an Indian lady
2) If you had already intercourse marry as soon as possible. Do not hope dowry laws will also apply to you. Western have no caste. Is still better than dalit.... but not really a big fish, so maybe you will have to pay a "fat Indian marriage"
3) You had intercourse and nobody claimed marriage, go to HIV (AIDS) test asap.
4a) If you had intercourse and do not marry and you are accused, please be prepared to stay up to 10 years in India before the trial court set you free (eventually)
4b) If you had intercourse and you cannot marry her please be prepaired for 7 years in Indian jail (is not so bad, I was told if you have the right connections and willing to spent some money to the right persons)

Mukta and Deepak lovers for already 7 years had a serious quarrel over dowry. Since obviously Mukta’s parents were not prepared to pay dowry , as a consequence he threw her off the roof.
A sad end of a romantic story, they were both 24.

INDIAN FUN 1

Sandeep: Delhi is going to supply electrical power to Mumbai
Rakesh: But Delhi doesn't have any power for itself, all we have are power cuts.
Sandeep: No problem we'll supply Mumbai by power cuts

Sad background:
Delhi in the hot season is lacking 600 MW of electrical power. Which results in daily power cuts for 1- 2 hours during night and/or day times. A fact tourist do not remark since hotels and other touristic areas have power generators (a very expensive, low efficient solution)
Maharsta (Mumbai is the capital) is missing 6400 MW of electrical power, since Mubai as a capital is proirized, it is mainly Pune and Nashik suffering from daily power cuts for hours, forcing each houshold to purchase expensive inverters ( a battery inverter combination to make out of 12 V DC, 220 V AC)
Since 6400 MW requires 6 big nuclear power plants and there is not even a sign of planning for that it may take another decade before the problem can be overcome.
Maybe Jacques Rogge should read from time to time Indian newspapers before he recommend India for Olympic games

WILD WEST IN THE EAST

People of Nodia and Ghaziabad (both civilized cities in the vicinity of Delhi) seems to have lost faith in law makers. They prefer taking culprits to task on their own then handling them over to the police.
Raju Nat of Nodia succumbed to the injuries after he was brutally beaten for raping a 7 – year old Raju died in the district hospital in Noida.
In Ghaziabad residents of Hapur’s Sitadei village beat an unidentified man after he allegedly raped and murdered a 4 year old girl. The mob set then the body on fire.
It seems that no actions were planned against these lynching methods .
Police official said: “ A rapist may or may not be convicted. Moreover, judicial procedure takes years before the judgement is passed. Sp people have started taking the law in their hands, as much as given vent to their anger.

This is now scarying for western too, assume there is a rape and someone tells "I saw a pale looking guy" and per coincidence you pass there, you might not even be asked if you are sexually attracted by kids. Maybe Jacques Rogge should read the Indian newspapers from time to time before he recommend India as next candidate for the Olypic Games

Indian Romance 1

The suicide note of a married woman (Manisha) from Delhi (middle class) black-mailed by her husband (Sumit) and his family members for money for a flat.
Later the father of Manisha stated: “ I had arranged the money but they killed my daughter. She would often call us or write to us saying how Sumit beat her up.

HER LAST WORDS

To Sumit
Hardly 12 days to go before our third marriage anniversary. However, I know it would give you immense pleasure if we part company before that, shall I say, if I walk out of your live. I know Sumit that you neiter love me nor like me. You only tolerate me. What we have is one-sided love. Such affairs are seldom succesfull. I loved you from my heart but you probably tought my feelings were not genuine, I can’t blame you for this; maybe sometimes lacking in my love for you. I couldn’t find a place in your heart.
You loved me initially. Or, at least , it seemed to me. Those were the best days of my live. You can live without me , but I can’t. Everybody has to die. Some die soon some very late. My days are over. I am happy that I am dying as a married woman and not as someone who was dumped by her husband. My only request to you is that to dress me up like a newly married bride for cremation. Rest assured that neither you nor any of your family members will be blamed for my death. I am also writing to my father to ensure this. I want to end this by saying that nobody loved you as much as I did.

To Police
My husband or his family members are not responsible for my death. Nobody has forced me to take this decision. Please don’t put the blame on anybody.

To Father
I’ ll be gone the time you receive this letter. You know that I can’t live without Sumit. The problem is that Sumit doesn’t want to live with me . Please don’t regret anything . Only God decides how long can a person live. Please don’t worry and also take care of my mother. Had there been a divorce, I would have died several times in your presence. I am helpless I can’t live without him. You have catered to all my whims and fancies. I hope you will also fulfill my last wish. Please assure that Sumit doesn’t suffer from my death. My soul will not rest in peace if something happens to him. Nobody is responsible for my death. It is all destiny.
