MEDITATION- DIFFERENT VIEWS

Meditation is just the courage to be silent and alone.
Slowly, slowly you you start feeling a new quality of yourself,
a new alivness,
a new beauty
a new intelligence wich is not borrowed from anybody,
which is growing within you.
It has roots in our existence
Osho Rajneesh

Meditation is concentration and reflection and these must be inward, not outward. meditation is the instrument we need in order to go inside ourselves
to search for that what is beyond ourselves.
Some people want to meditate because they have a disturbed mind and they want a peacefull one.
They do not know what a peacefull mind is or the real nature of peace.which is restfull and can produce the same effect as sleep;
this has no connection with wisdom.
They only want to be free from their restleness, or their tiredness, or their frustration.
It would be better for them to take a couple of sleeping pills for these not only work faster but produce the desired result without any effort on the part of the sufferer.
Other people think of meditation as a kind of therapy curing physical or mental diseases
and altough this may happen occasionally it is not its primary function. Modern medicine with is chemical remedies and techniques has far greater efficiency in this field.
Now we shall go back to the reasons of meditation.
Meditation will only be usefull and worthwile if we are serious about finding ourselves or if we are searching for our selflessness.
If we are earnest to find that thruth- not for our own satisfaction, but in order to help other people who have not find it yet-then it is worthwile to study meditation and to pratise it.
But if our motivation is not pure, meditation will just be a waste of time, for it cannot be used to serve any worldly aims such as the obtaining of pleasure or power

THE ELEPHANTS A VERY SAD AND AN ELUSIVE ROMANTIC STORY

The sad story
Three people were trampled to death when an elephant ran amok at the Irrinjalakuda 'Koodalmanikya' temple The festival drew as each year a large number of domestic and foreign tourists. The police identified two of those killed as Kausalya, 75, and Nidheesh, 20. "The third person's identity is yet to be confirmed. His face was crushed beyond recognition," an official at Irinjalakkuda police station said. The jumbo, which continued the rampage for about two hours, was calmed down by the mahouts and chained.

The tusker with the name of Thiruvalla Unnikrishnan (which such a name I also could make amok) was brought to the centuries-old temple as part of the annual festival celebrations. The elephant was provocated and turned violent after a drunken spectator caught its tusk Aditionally four persons were injured in the stampede when terrified devotees rushed out of the temple premises to escape the rampaging elephant.

The romantic tusker story
The 26-year-old tusker had entered Chittaranjan town a few days ago, triggering panic among the residents. Wildlife officials were called to drive him out but the beast had other plans—it’s the mating season and he was lonely. He was tall, dark, handsome and wild at heart. She was cuty, good-looking, bred, not all that coy. And it was love at first sight.
Early Wednesday, he raided Olympic Circus, which had set up camp in Kumarbazar area of Raniganj, smashed through the tin walls and stormed the stable, where four female elephants were confined. His eyes rested on Savitri—four years older to him—and goaded her into fleeing with him. The huge tusker, straight out of the jungle, raided a circus freed the female elephant and eloped with her to make a cosy home by a pond in Raiganj. This tale of untamed love has yet another bizarre twist: a second female elephant, said to be "very attached" to the one that fled the circus, has broken down and is grieving for her "mate".

THE STREET AS EXTENDED BUILDING SITE

Maybe due to missing laws, but I rather think due to negligence and lassez- faire of police almost all building site download the cement, sand, bricks, iron beams and all other stuff needed to build a house on the sidewalks and even till the middle of the road. Even worse once the building is finished, nobody feels responsible to clean the mess. The result you can see in the pictures.

A young boar takes the opportunity to take a bath in the mud created by a leaking water line. Obviously he did not want to be on the picture since he was trying to escape. I am sure if I pass there next weak leak will still be there to the merriment of the boar.

I should not be too hard on the Police, in the Sunday Times of today was written, " NOIDA (this is one of the satellite cities of Delhi, comparable with Gurgaon) POLICE AS NO PHONES OR PETROL FOR PATROL..... Almost all police stations in the two districts have had their phones disconnected years ago for non-payment of the bills. Some station officers have arranged private mobile phones so that police stations can be contacted. The solitary jeep in every police station in Ghaziabad (another satellite city of Delhi) gets a mere 100 l of fuel every month. Another 20 to 25 l can be procured with special sanction of the district police chief."

Of course under these circumstances, police simply has no time to control the mess trying to organize some fuel.
