TRIMBAKHESHWAR THE GATE TO SHIVA

Trimbakeshwar is situated approx 30 Km in the NW of Nasik on a road passing the astonishing formations of the Western Gath.

The holy spot is dedicated to Shiva and the city is almost completly occoupied by the pelgrim tourist. The temple must have been very beautiful but as was the case in Nasik , urgently need renovation. Unfortunately , not being Hindu I was not allowed to enter the temple, therefore only pictures from the surrounding. In the back of the temple is a wonderful lake showing some far away asram or temple or even mosque and the scene of the Western Ghats.

INDIAN'S ENVIROMENT IS SICKNING

About 45 percent of India's land is degraded, air pollution is increasing in all its cities, it is losing its rare plants and animals more rapidly than before and about one-third of its urban population now lives in slums, says the State of Environment Report India 2009 brought out by the government.

The third official report on the state of India's environment, published after a gap of eight years and released by Minister of State for Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday, has only one word of cheer: it says India is using 75 percent of the water it can use, and it has "just enough for the future if it is careful".

The report, prepared by NGO Development Alternatives under the aegis of the ministry, says 45 percent of India's land area is degraded due to erosion, soil acidity, alkalinity and salinity, waterlogging and wind erosion.

It says the prime causes of land degradation are deforestation, unsustainable farming, mining and excessive groundwater extraction.

On the bright side, the report shows how over two-thirds of the degraded 147 million hectares can be regenerated quite easily, and points out that India's forest cover is gradually increasing.

Ramesh said it would be unrealistic to expect that India's area under forests would go above the current 21 percent, given the competing demands for land. "Our plan is to have all this 21 percent as high and medium density forests within the next 10 years," he said. Currently, only two percent of India is under high density forest cover, while medium density forests cover about 10 percent of the land.

Presenting the salient features of the report to the media, Development Alternatives President (Development Enterprises) George C Varughese said one of its most worrisome findings was that the level of respirable suspended particulate matter--the small pieces of soot and dust that get inside the lungs--had gone up in all the 50 cities across India studied by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and the Central Pollution Control Board.

"In these 50 cities, with their population of 110 million, the public health damage costs due to this was estimated at Rs.15,000 crore in 2004," Varughese said.

The main causes of urban air pollution were vehicles and factories, he pointed out, appealing for a major boost to public transport.

While India still had some cushion when it came to water use, this scarce resource would have to be managed very carefully, the report says. It identifies lack of proper pricing of water for domestic usage, poor sanitation, unregulated extraction of groundwater by industry, discharge of toxic and organic wastewater by factories, inefficient irrigation and overuse of chemical fertilisers and pesticides as the main causes of water problems in the country.

While India remains one of the world's 17 "megadiverse" countries in terms of the number of species it houses, 10 percent of its wild flora and fauna are on the threatened list, Varughese pointed out. The main causes, according to the report, were habitat destruction, poaching, invasive species, overexploitation, pollution and climate change.

The report points out that while India contributes only about five percent of the world's greenhouse gas emissions that are leading to climate change, about 700 million Indians directly face the threat of global warming today, as it affects farming, makes droughts, floods and storms more frequent and more severe and is raising the sea level.

In the section on urbanisation, the report points out that 20 to 40 percent of people living in cities are in slums. Varughese said there were good projects to upgrade their lives and improve the environment at the same time, but the problem was that most of the money from schemes like the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission was taken away by the big cities, "while the major problem is in about 4,000 small and medium towns".

AL-QAIDA WARNINGS TO INDIA

Now al-Qaida is openly defending Pakistan with one of the terror outfit's top commanders warning India of more Mumbai-like attacks. In Al-Qaida's Mustafa Abu al-Yazid has warned India in a video. (Times Now)
The al-Qaida threat follows an earlier offer by the Taliban to sink differences over the US-led war on terror and fight "common enemy" India shoulder-to-shoulder with the Pakistan army. The generous offer of assistance came even as Pakistan army is ostensibly engaged in trying to curtail the Taliban's growing influence.
The somewhat bizzare spectacle of jihadi terror organisations rushing to its aid might be slightly embarrassing for Islamabad but only underlines the Taliban-al-Qaida presence in Pakistan, and the impunity with which these groups operate. Pakistan may well have preferred that the al-Qaida did not express its empathy openly, but Al Yazid's statement is clearly meant to be in sync with the popular anti-India mood in the country.
Apart from exposing the interest of al-Qaida in India, seen to be part of the jihadi agenda, Al Yazid's appearance will further discredit Pakistan's ability to fight terror as the terrorist was believed to have been dead. It was Pakistan which had "confirmed" his death by conveying to the US that Al Yazid had been killed in an encounter with its security forces in the Bajaur tribal region last year in August. The nature of the Mumbai attacks had given rise to speculation over the possibility of al-Qaida having had a hand in the mayhem.
"India should know it will have to pay a heavy price if it attacks Pakistan. The mujahideen will sunder your armies into the ground, like they did to the Russians in Afghanistan," Al Yazid, widely accepted as No.3 in the al-Qaida hierarchy after Osama bin Laden and Ayman Al Zawahiri, was quoted as saying in the Arabic video by BBC. He also threatened to target economic centres and humiliate India further by bringing in suicide bombers from all over the world.

In the video, Al Yazid also urges Pakistanis to overthrow the civilian government. Till his `death', Al Yazid was believed to be the commander of al-Qaida in Afghanistan. He last appeared in a video in August last year in which he confirmed the death of another al-Qaida leader. An Egyptian like Al Zawahiri, he spent several years in jail - just like his compatriot - for his alleged involvement in the assassination of Egypt's president in 1981.

AND I AM ONCE AGAIN GETTING VERY SCARED

IS IT TIME TO LEAVE ?

I did not mind to much the continious power cuts
I tried to forget the ostentive spitting, sneezing and coughing of the Indians
I was prepared to solve the abdominable conditions on public and business toilets
Tremendous potholes on the roads were not able to destroy my back
Against pollution I was wrongly weapened with a paper handkerchief on the nose
Against the frustration of the impossibility to use sidewalks I took pictures for no use.
For the food cooked with spices to cover the agreable natural taste I had my phantasy
The complete lack of circulation rules is a continious threat I tought by being carefull I could avoid accidents.
But now after at least 8 bomb (I stopped counting) terrorist attacks in this year with numereous victims I was getting scared to travel.
What happened in Mumbai where the muslem terrorist attacked Taj Hotel and Oberoi Trident in Mumbai and selectively started shooting Westerns I think this is too much .... I have to go

DEFINITION OF POVERAGE LEVEL

After the yesterday publication about the poll fraude by buying votes by promising 1 Kg rice for 0.16 euro for the pover, I was asked were are the poverty limits. For each one in THE WEST it seams to be unreachable, so you will still have to pay 1 euro for low cost rice and up to 3 euro for real Basmati.
In the Indian governement scheme , the poverty line derived from the monthly income varies from state to state and city to city:
Delhi rps 506 (= euro 8 euros per month !!!)
Mumbai: rps 540
Calcutta: rps 410
Chennai: rps 475

For Dahl the small Indian beans similar regulations are in force

IT IS GETTING SCARING, VERY SCARING

In the following an article from Yahoo News showing the ease of the assembly of an highly destructive bomb and if with this bomb soft targets as market places or hospital inlets are envisaged than the police canot give any protection.

"The bombs that went off at 17 busy areas of the city on Black Saturday bore a clear imprint of classic concoction of ammonium nitrate, ball bearings and some chemical powder packed in corrugated cartons for maximum impact in both death and destruction.

The bomb package had been left innocuously in cycle carriers and CNG city buses and the deadly cocktail was wrapped in three layers of plastic bags padded with cloth rags. A 6-volt Chinese-made battery was attached with the contraption to trigger the bomb through a timer device.

This macabre piece of local engineering was there for all to see at Galaxy cinema area at Naroda and civil hospital where ball-bearings and shrapnels were recovered aplenty. Incidentally, the civil hospital blast claimed maximum 16 lives and was meant to instill psychological fear in the people that if a well known hospital could be targeted then no one was safe, police and authorities said.

At Sarangpur market and Raipur Chakla the bombs had the same hallmark seen in other areas - all coming neatly packed in three plastic bags tied to cycle carriers with a rope. The bombs were planted near pan shops and vegetable vendors where common people usually congregate.

Police sources said fifth columnists locally were at work to help the mastermind in this evil venture as these bombs were assembled here and planted by different people."

ARE INDIAN RACIST ?

The caste system is without any dought the most racist invention of all times. But this would be understandable, since all countries have had some kind of hierachical structure, having leaders and slaves once in their history but in INDIA IT STILL EXIST. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had said at a conference: “Dalits have faced a unique discrimination in our society…. The only parallel to the practice of untouchability was apartheid.” The verbal form "have faced" is simply not true Dalits still are completely underprivilized and in some areas can not drink from the same water source as upper caste people.
Now in another area India has shown his ugly racist face:
Two cheerleaders from London were asked to leave the ground at Mohali “because of the colour of their skin” by the Preity Zinta event management company, Wizcraft International Entertainment, which handles her team, Kings XI Punjab.
One of the girls, Ellesha Newton, told The Telegraph: “It was okay when we reached the stadium. It was when we were going to take our positions that some of Wizcraft’s employees asked us to leave. We were surprised and asked them why and they told us it was because of the colour of our skin.”
Aldana said he found Ellesha and Sherinne Anderson, whom he had recruited as part of a team of 12, in tears when he reached the ground.“Sherinne and Ellesha were in a state of shock and crying outside the ground. I called them and asked them what was the matter and they told me that a guy from Wizcraft had forbidden them from entering the ground,” Aldana said.Aldana, who has supplied cheerleaders for Shah Rukh Khan’s Calcutta team, too, said when he confronted the Wizcraft people with the allegation they tried to pass it off as a casual comment. “They said people don’t like dark girls here. But if they wanted all blondes, they should have told me so. I would have arranged it.”On Aldana’s insistence, the girls were allowed back on the ground. But they were so upset that they didn’t want to take their positions on the stage.
“Sherinne and I talked it out amongst ourselves and we really didn’t want to go, but that’s why we were here and so we went,” said Ellesha, 22.
Sherinne, 25, burst out: “This kind of thing has never happened to us before, not in Europe, not here, nowhere.”
